In 2013, the U.S. Postal Service released a stamp honoring the music and legacy of Johnny Cash, as part of its ongoing Music Icons series. Our president Greg Breeding served as the designer and art director for the stamp.

Stamp design

Greg Breeding chose a photograph of Johnny Cash taken during the photo session for Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash. The compelling typography he selected is reminiscent of lettering used in Cash’s discography.

Greg also designed the square stamp pane to resemble a vintage 45 rpm record sleeve. One side of the pane includes the stamps, and a sliver of a vinyl record appears to peek out of the design.
