Seattle Pacific University approached Journey Group with a challenge—re-envision its print magazine to embrace the university’s theological roots and inspire a diverse group of readers.

Editorial design

Drawing on many years of experience in the magazine industry, Journey Group re-imagined Response’s architecture. Feature stories of varying lengths were placed side by side, lending variety and contrast to the magazine’s editorial structure.

To spotlight explorations of faith, a section titled “Soul” was introduced. Bold typefaces and abundant white space combined with colors from the university’s new brand palette became the foundation for an inviting and engaging publication that feels clean, innovative, and relevant.

Artistic direction

Journey Group coordinated a total of 10 different illustrators for the project, ensuring that every page was imbued with surprise and excitement. Our art directors worked closely with the client to determine the direction for each story and performed careful research to find the perfect illustrator to match it.

Through intensive rounds of feedback with the artists, each story’s message was clearly and tastefully brought to life.
